May 31st from 12-3pm in Harmony Square, the Brantford Arts Block is hosting a Improvised Drum Performance that everyone can get involved in if they like. It will be featuring instruments created by Dave Hind www.davehind.com. Check out his site, his stuff is amazing and this event should be a lot of fun.
We’re also going to be painting our casket for the funeral of the old Downtown during this event.

The Fountain Of Useless @ Shooters – June 7th @ 10pm

Shooters (310 Colborne Street) is about to be hit by grungy power rock on Saturday, June 7th at 10pm, and downtown will never be the same… The FOU features Mike Cole on Lead Vocals, Matt Hanley on guitar (both Mike and Matt left L.A.’s Su8ck to form The FOU), Cliff Burke on Guitar and providing Backing Vocals, Alex Wyatt on Bass and Nicky Chardonnay on Drums. With The FOU’s hard-hitting in your face sound, Saturday night is going to rock your socks. Fans of the FOU can look forward to the debut of two new tunes at the show, so make sure you’re there!

Brantford’s answer to the Sex Pistols, the Beatles, The Moody Blues , Weezer , Sloan and Bob Dylan will be playing with Rockenspiel and the Magic on June 6th at the Trepid House (130 King St N, Waterloo). Featuring Alex Iarocci on vocals & guitars), Myles Pye on vocals & guitars and Andrew Casarsa smacking the drums, the Torcus will warp your fragile little mind.

End Program (CD Release Party) w/ The Clusterbombs and 68 Porno Mags @ Sneaky Dee’s (TO) – June 6th @ 10pm

June 6th at Sneeky D’s (431 College Street
Toronto), End Program is having a CD release party with friends 68 Porno Mags and Brantford’s own The Clusterbombs. A night of punk and funk is guaranteed to rock your socks off (or rock your crocs off…if you’re into strange footwear of doom). Cover is $10 but considering that you get End Program’s new CD (The Machines Are Only Human), it’s a helluva price. Doors open at 9pm.

The Pappy John’s Band @ Liquid Lounge – June 1st

The Pappy John’s Band will be bringing their soulful Rez Blues to the Liquid Lounge ( 159 Sydenham Street, Brantford) on Sunday, June 1st.
The Pappy John’s Band were 2005 JUNO Award nominees for Aboriginal Recording of the Year for ’Full Circle’. The band won Best Blues Album at the 2004 Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards for Full Circle, in November 2004. They were also nominated for a 2005 Indian Summer Music Award for Best Blues in Milwaukee. You can catch members of this rocking blues band on T.V.’s Rez Bluez, airing on the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network and BRAVO Canada, Saturday nights at 8pm.

Sorrow Has a Perfect End, (unusable)Cygnal & Echobas3 @ Bottoms Up – May 31st

Sorrow Has a Perfect End, a band that sounds like it the lovechild of a Commodore 64 and a death metal axe (think Nine Inch Nails molesting Skinny Puppy while Orbital and Ministry give reach-arounds to all), will be playing Bottom’s Up (67 Charing Cross, Brantford) on Saturday May 31st at 9pm. Special guests (unusable)Cygnal and Echobas3 add even more chaos to an evening of alternative psychedelic electronica bliss.

Mr Bidet @ the Alex – May 31st

Punk rock strikes again (with a vengeance) when Mr. Bidet comes to rock the Alex (187 Market St, Brantford) on Saturday, May 31st. These 5 punk rockers (Joey – Vocals, Banger – Guitar/backing vocals, Goodie – Guitar/backing vocals, Boos – Bass, Pete – Drums) sound a lot like NOFX , back when NOFX had balls…but drawing comparisons really isn’t necessary, Mr. Bidet stand stong on their own, bringing punktastic riffs to Brantford’s ears since the days when you could still call it the 90’s.

Jon-Rae Fletcher & AlphaBaby @ the Ford Plant – May 30th

Jon-Rae Fletcher, of John-Rae & the River, is touring solo with special guests AlphaBaby, bringing country, rock, and soul to Brantford’s Ford Plant (60 Colborne St). Two Canadian bands for one Canadian price, come out and be moved.

Rapid Decline, Hangman Piñata & The Carnies @ Bottoms Up – May 24th

Rapid Decline – one of Brantford’s newest bands with some of Brantford’s most HaRdCoRe members. Hardcore punk brought to you by the letter AAAAAHHH!! Crazy riffs jammed out by Mike Green on guitar and Scott Birdsell on bass are backed by the non-stop barrage of drums from Scott Landry, all topped with Aaron Gill’s massive voice. They play their first show May 24th at Bottoms Up (67 Charing Cross, Brantford) and judging by the material they’ve released so far it’s going to knock the place down. Check out their myspace, listen to a few of their tunes, and get your a$$ to Bottoms Up on the 24th to see them live with Hangman Piñata and The Carnies.

Easy Meat @ Bottoms Up – May 23rd

Brantford’s best Zappa tribute band is coming May 23rd to Bottoms Up (67 Charing Cross, Brantford). Not only does Easy Meat expertly recreate the Frank Zappa experience, they also play a surprising selection of cover songs that get your heart pumping and your memory spelunking down long forgotten caverns as you hear tunes from genres and eras that you haven’t heard since bygones were goings on.

Steve Murphy @ McLaughlin House & Mexi Casa Mamas – May 23rd

Folksy and witty, brimming with raw energy, Steve Murphy brings his unique brand of folk /funk/rock/country/reggae/blues /drunken good times to McLaughlin House at 5pm, and Mexi Casa Mamas at 9pm on May 23rd. He’ll be playing McLaughlin House again on June 6th at 10pm. You can also catch Steve every Wednesday at Two Doors Down; unless he’s happens to be on tour in Western Canada, which he will be most of June.

Brown Brigade @ Club NV – May 23rd

Brown Brigade is coming to BrownTown. With their unique reggae death metal beats and heavy undertones in toe, Brown Brigade will be playing Club NV (234 Colbourne St., Brantford) on May 23rd. Get ready to groove like you’ve never grooved before.
